The mass media are indispensable in every sphere of life. The media contribute a lot to the growth and development of tertiary institutions. The researchers used the agenda setting and development media theories as theoretical relevance for this study. This paper is therefore set to assess the impact of the mass media in the growth and development of Tertiary Institution in Delta State. The survey method and questionnaire were used as research design and instrument for gathering data respectively. A total of 300 (Three Hundred) sample size was drawn randomly from these three institution, i.e. 100 respondents each from each of the institutions. The findings revealed overwhelming impact of mass media in the growth and development of the three sampled tertiary institutions. Based on the findings, It was recommended among other things that Higher Institution authorities should always use the mass media to publicize their institutions, and the media on the other hand should be morally obliged to the plight of higher institutions by publishing and disseminating information concerning them on regular basis.en_US
