Environmentalists and policy-makers in Nigeria are becoming increasingly interested in the means and ways by which individuals can be encouraged to engage in environmental options that will promote environmental sanitation. This paper used information elicited from respondents using a large questionnaire survey focusing on the communicational understanding of the concept environmental behavioural change. In our research, responsible environmental behaviour (REB) was studied from the communication perspective in order to understand the individual and the social factors that lead to the adoption or rejection of the REB. We developed a communication model to explain how REB can be promoted amongst citizens.en_US
