Item EMPIRICAL ASSESSMENT OF CARBON FOOT PRINT ON THE ECONOMIC GROWTH OF NIGERIA(Sapientia Global Journal of Arts, 2022-09) OGBEIDE, SUNDAY O.; UGBOGBO, SUNDAY N.This study investigates the relationship between carbon foot print and economic performance in Nigeria over the period 1980 – 2021. An index of carbon emission intensity, trade openness, human capital investment and electricity consumption were regressed on economic growth, proxy with gross domestic product (GDP).The unit root test was performed on the data using the Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF). The analysis of the data was done using correlation statistics and the general method of moment (GMM) estimation method. The findings from the study showed that carbon emission has an inverse relationship with economic growth of Nigeria. While electricity consumption, trade openness, and human capital investment exerted positive impact on the economic growth of Nigeria and were not significant, except trade openness. The study concludes that carbon footprints have adverse impact on our environment and the general economy. Following the findings from the study, the study recommends that there is a dire need for both individuals, corporate bodies and the government to take drastic measures to reduce carbon footprint as much as reasonably practicable.Item Empirical Assessment of Factors Capable of Boosting Internally Generated Revenue Collections in Edo State(SEAHI PUBLICATIONS, 2018) IGBINIGIE, Osaheni; OGBEIDE, SUNDAY O.; OMOREGIE, Lucky C.This study empirically examined factors boosting internally generated revenue collection in Edo state. The population of the study was heterogeneous consisting of all local Government councils and staff. Six (6) Local Government councils were chosen from Edo South Senatorial district, (2) Local Government Councils were chosen from Edo North Senatorial district and (2) local government councils were also chosen from Edo Central Senatorial districts while a total number of (200) respondents were selected using the simple random sampling method. The statistical tool employed to analyze the data and test the research hypotheses is ordinary least square estimation method. The result showed that establishment of grass roots revenue collection centre though significant, however reduced the internal generated revenue of Edo State. Basically the methods of collecting internally generated revenue examined are considered efficient enough to produce significant results for the governments of Edo state. Based on the empirical findings of this study, it is therefore recommended that the government should radically eliminate the use of touts in collecting IGR in Edo. This study contributed to knowledge because it the first to empirically examined efficient methods government can use to collect IGR with a view to boosting revenue base in Edo state.Item IFRSandAudit Committee Mechanisms Impact on Audit Quality ofListed Firms inNigeria(EJAMSS, 2021-12) OGBEIDE, SUNDAY O.; ADEGBAYIBI, Adesanmi T.This research investigates IFRS interaction with audit committee mechanisms on audit quality of listedfirms in Nigeria. This paper therefore examines the effects of the naira redesign on financial, economic and security systems in Nigeria. It employs primary data analyses drawn from structured questionnaires issued to various stakeholders such as professionals, banking public, artisans and SMEs, among others. The study found that naira redesign is effective in the containment of inflation, in asserting the sovereignty of the government’s monetary policy in curbing bribery and corruption, in controlling the activities of bandits and kidnappers and in controlling money supply. The paper therefore recommends among other things that the old and new notes (that is, ₦1000, ₦500 and ₦200) should remain legal tenders until the old stock is finally phased out. It also recommends that DMBs should expand the capacities of their e-platforms, make POS devices free to encourage better participation and avoid any future clash of naira redesign or reform activity with another national event.
