Item Indigenous knowledge development as a way-out of unemployment in Nigeria: A case study of Ondo, Ekiti and Osun states(Elixir Library Science, 2019) Familusi, E. B.; Adekanmbi, Olubukola F.Indigenous knowledge is otherwise known as African science and knowledge. It was conceived, born, processed, disseminated but preserved through natural inheritance from succeeding generations without written document. This study was done to discover the various indigenous knowledge jobs available, the employment status, the challenges they encounter and suggest what government can do to help. Out of four hundred and fifty (450) copies of questionnaire that were distributed, four hundred and eighteen (418) copies (92.9%) were returned with usable responses, while thirty two (32) copies (7.1%) were not returned. Descriptive statistical method was applied for the study, Questionnaire, and observations were the research instruments used for data gathering. Data were analysed using the use of frequency counts and percentages method. Findings revealed that indigenous knowledge is the pivot of Nigerian economy. If indigenous knowledge is better funded by the three tiers of Nigerian government, it is capable of reducing unemployment syndrome that besieged the country. The various levels of government should intensify efforts to improve the adult literacy programme, public orientation and enlightenment, accreditation of indigenous knowledge practitioners, grant interest free loans and establish more indigenous knowledge skill acquisition centres nationwide.Item Influence of Gender Differences on Usage Patterns of Electronic Information Sources among Undergraduates of Selected Universities in Southwest, Nigeria(Scientific and Academic Publishing, 2019) Bamidele, O.; Adekanmbi, Olubukola F.This research work investigated the influence of gender differences on usage patterns of electronic information sources among undergraduates in Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population was made up of randomly selected undergraduate students of Ekiti State University (EKSU) and University of Ibadan (UI). Data were generated through the use of questionnaire designed to elicit responses from respondents and analysed using descriptive statistics method of frequency counts and percentages. However, out of five hundred (500) copies of questionnaire administered, four hundred and twenty one (421) were returned which represents 84.2% response rate for the study. Findings revealed that there is no basis for gender differentiation in the use of electronic information sources as gender gap in electronic resources usage appeared negligible. However, it was recommended that university libraries in Nigeria should continue to give equal opportunities to both sexes in term of training and orientation on the use of e-resources among other recommendations.Item Investigating and Proffering Solutions to the Information Seeking Behaviour of Immigrants in the United Kingdom(Library Philosophy and Practice, 2019-02-01) Adekanmbi, Olubukola F.The aim of this study is to investigate the information seeking behaviour of immigrants in the United Kingdom, main focus was on the asylum seekers. The research method was extended literature review type. The literature review takes the shape of a systematic review. Past studies were used to know what has been done about the study and what is missing, which helped the researcher in creating the research questions. Data were collected from different findings of several researchers, the analysis of secondary authors were collated to form the findings of this research. International studies were mostly used because more research has been done internationally than in the UK. The limitation of the study was trust issues, the findings cannot be trusted based on the research method used. The findings, answer the research questions of information needs, information source and information barriers of immigrants. The researcher provided some recommendations for informational professionals and librarians as how to solve the research problems. The role of the Library was also discussed extensively as to help immigrants upon arrival in a new environment.
